Banaag Festival part 2

Monday night consisted of the talent portion for the 8 contestants competing for Miss Anilao. The theme for this evening was environmental education focusing on wind, water, fire, and earth. Each had to give a speech along with an interpretive dance. All of these performances were unique and entertaining.

Tuesday night consisted of a singing competition sponsored by the Department of Education. There were 3 age categories: 12 years and under, 13-17 years, and 18 and over. Each contestant had to sing a slow song and a fast song. The most entertaining were the fast songs like Beyonce’s – Single Ladies and Sia Furler’s – Titanium

In the middle of the week there was a Local Government Unit (LGU) Day.
This day was filled with many activities hosted by the LGU.

The morning started out with a birthday celebration for those that were born in 1939
the same year that Anilao gained its independence.

The next activity in line was the Quiz Bee. This competition quizzed students on their knowledge of the history of Anilao. It was an intense competition as the students went through 3 elimination rounds before a winner was announced.

After lunch we had the pleasure of being entertained by different organizations within Anilao such as; Senior Citizens, Farmers Association,

DSWD (Dept. of Social Welfare), 4P’s (National Government Feeding Program),

Ati’s (the indigenous people) etc. The competition was Modern Dance.
Each of these groups put on an entertaining number including
the cha-cha, gangnam style and oldies music.

To end LGU day, Anilao’s Festival Queen was chosen.
The contestants were judged by their production number,
self-introduction (the beautiful costumes seen here),
casual wear, play suit (pretty much the swimming suit competition),
evening gown, and let’s not forget about the interview.

The girl that Lauren and her counterpart helped sponsor

was given the theme of wind, she ended up winning the title!!!

She is the one below in the silver and blue wings holding the dove.

As you can see, contestants went all out with their costumes.
